What Is QR Code? How QR Code Work?

What is QR code?

QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional bar code) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. Bar codes are optical machine-readable labels attached to items that record information related to the item. It was initially patented; however, its patent holder has chosen not to exercise those rights. Recently, the QR Code system has become popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. The code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square grid on a white background. The information encoded may be made up of four standardized types ("modes") of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte / binary, Kanji) or, through supported extensions, virtually any type of data.

How QR code work?

The QR code was invented in Japan by the Toyota subsidiary Denso Wave in 1994 to track vehicles during manufacture. It was designed to allow high-speed component scanning.

Unlike the older one-dimensional barcode that was designed to be mechanically scanned by a narrow beam of light to extract data, the QR code is detected as a 2-dimensional digital image by a semiconductor image sensor and is then digitally analyzed by a programmed processor. The processor locates the three distinctive squares at the corners of the image, and uses a smaller square near the fourth corner to normalize the image for size, orientation, and angle of viewing. The small dots are then converted to binary numbers and their validity checked with an error-correcting code.

How is a QR Code different from a normal 1D UPC barcode?

Ordinarily we think of a barcode as a collection of vertical lines; 2D Barcodes or QR Codes are different in that the data is stored in both directions and can be scanned vertically OR horizontally.

Whilst a standard 1D Barcode (UPC/EAN) stores up to 30 numbers, a QR Barcode can store up to a massive 7,089! It is this massive amount of data that enables links to such things as videos, Facebook or Twitter pages or a plethora of other website pages.

How do I scan a QR Code?

If you have a smartphone like an iPhone, Android or Blackberry then there a number of different barcode scanner applications such as Red Laser, Barcode Scanner and QR Scanner that can read and decode data from a QR code. The majority of these are completely FREE, and all you have to do once you install one is to use your phone's camera to scan the barcode, which will then automatically load the encoded data for you.

PNG files work particularly well as they can be resized very easily, meaning that you can easily scale the QR Code depending on where you want to put it.

Main uses of QR codes

Originally designed for industrial uses, QR codes have become common in consumer advertising. Smartphone users can install an app with a QR-code scanner that can read a displayed code and convert it to a URL directing the smartphone's browser to the website of a company, store, or product associated with that code providing specific information.

Mobile operating systems

QR codes can be used in Google's Android operating system and iOS devices, as well as by using Google Goggles, 3rd party barcode scanners, and the Nintendo 3DS. The browser supports URI redirection, which allows QR codes to send metadata to existing applications on the device. mbarcode is a QR code reader for the Maemo operating system. In Apple's iOS, a QR code reader is not natively included, but more than fifty paid and free apps are available with both the ability to scan the codes and hard-link to an external URL. Windows Phone 7.5 is able to scan QR codes through the Bing search app.

URLs aided marketing conversion rates even in the pre-smartphone era but during those years faced several limitations: ad viewers usually had to type the URL and often did not have a web browser in front of them at the moment they viewed the ad. Some 58% of those users scanned a QR or bar code from their homes, while 39% scanned from retail stores; 53% of the 14 million users were men between the ages of 18 and 34.[16] The use of QR codes for "virtual store" formats started in South Korea,[17] and Argentina,[18] but is currently expanding globally.[19] Big companies such as Walmart, Procter & Gamble and Woolworths have already adopted the Virtual Store concept.[20]

QR codes can be used to store a bank account information or a credit card information, or they can be specifically designed to work with particular payment provider applications. There are several trial applications of QR code payments across the world.

Proxy websites are a vital part of the internet. These sites allow users to bypass firewall restrictions to gain access to pages that their network normally will not allow them to see. Although they are mostly used for gaining access to blocked websites, they also provide internet users with a unique method of accessing the internet anonymously. This allows those who use a proxy to keep their identity private, which is very important to many people. All of these aspects combine to create a strong demand for internet proxies.

INSTRUCTIONS

Open an account at a web host that allows proxy websites. Many hosting companies do not allow proxies because they can generate a large amount of traffic that overloads the servers. Those that do allow proxy websites will typically prefer that you have a Virtual Private Server (VPS) or a dedicated server. Most hosts do not allow web proxies on a shared server.

Obtain a copy of PHProxy. This script acts as the software to power your proxy site. PHProxy is available free of charge, so anyone can make a proxy website without spending a lot of money.

Log into the control panel for your web hosting account. Create a MySQL database that will be used by the PHProxy script. Make note of the database name, user name and password that is associated with the database. This information is needed to configure the script to communicate with the database.

Edit the config.php file that is included with the script. Open the file with a HTML editor so that you can edit the contents of the file and save the new copy. Use Windows Notepad if you do not have a HTML editor. Simply open the file, edit the website name, website address, database name, database user name and database password. Save the file after the information has been edited.

Use an FTP program to upload all of the files to your hosting account. You can download a free copy of Filezilla FTP if you do not already have a program. Simply upload all of the files and folders included with PHProxy to your web hosting account. Your proxy website should now be operational

Read the documentation that is included with PHProxy. Follow the instructions in the documentation to customize your script, such as changing colors, page layout or other visual elements. This will help you make a FTP website that stands out.

How To Remove Write Protection From Pen Drive?

1. Go to run, type regedit and press enter.
2. Navigate to the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlStorageDevicePolicies
If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies does not exist, you will need to create it manually.
3. Highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a New DWORD (32-bit) Value named as WriteProtect.
4. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right window and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button
5. Restart your computer and see if this help

If there is no important file, try to format
Click on Start.
Type diskmgmt.msc in Run.
In the disk management window, select the pen drive, right click on it and click on Format. Now choose the File System and Allocation Unit Size.
Click on OK.

What is favicon? How to add favicon in your website?

Favicon is a small icon shown next to site URL in the address bar. In Blogger, by default orange colored blogger icon is shown as favicon. You can make your blog stand out by using your own customized icon. Before you implement the code, you can grab or make your own favicons.

Have you ever wondered how to get those icons displayed in your address bar for your own site? If you do not know what I mean, you could possibly have a browser that does not support favicon.ico or you just have not noticed.

If you visit Google they should have a favicon in their address bar, if it's not displaying just goto this place to get the idea of what it would look like, but in your address bar, it should show just before the http part but sometimes it does not show so what I want to do is show you how you can force it to be shown on browsers that support it.

The programs we will be using:

Any graphics program will do, for this I will be using MS Paint, although I recommend a program that supports transparency, or if you have MS Visual Studio you would have a program that can make the .ico file directly without using the conversion program.

I'll be using this program Right-Click Image Converter which can convert most image formats to icons, but that's not guaranteed it'll work across all browsers, so we will create a more compatible icon. So download it and install it right now. This program is a 40 file conversion evaluation program, which is ample for what we need, if you like this program you should buy it.

And an FTP Client, I'll be using FileZilla which can be found at SourceForge

So open up MS Paint, go to Image in the menu bar, Attributes. We now change the attributes to 16 x 16 Pixels using colour, that's our limited size of our icon for the address bar.

Now you need to design your picture, I'm just using this emoticon

but I've resized it to 16 x 16 and it's not animated, now save it as favicon.bmp either a Monochrome bitmap, if it's black and white or 16 colour bitmap (wider compatibility) or 256 colour bitmap, which only a few browsers support. If I was you, 16 colour bitmap is the better choice but you may lose some colour from the file.

Now we browse to our directory where we saved our favicon.bmp file and right-click on it and we should see right-click image converter in the menu, move your mouse over it and then select convert to .ICO this will now convert favicon.bmp to favicon.ico in the same directory if was converted. You now have the favicon.ico file you will use on your site.

We then upload favicon.ico to our root directory on our site, public_html. So do that now.

Now that we have done this, if browsers supported favicon.ico then this would be all we needed but sometimes it doesn't display. So to display it, I'm going to edit our index page. index.html to add this line in our head section of the file.

The <link> tag is how we add it to our site, displayed in the address bar. Now open your browser, and goto that page is it showing up? If it is, we are done. If not, make sure that favicon.ico is pointed to correctly, easiest way would be to change href="favicon.ico" to href="http://yoursite.com/favicon.ico", if it's not working, it might be your browser doesn't support it. Note: IE is very buggy supporting favicons, if you bookmark a page with favicons, it should show your icon in that bookmark.

3. In the ‘save as’ name it as lock.bat and click save ! (Save it on Desktop)
4. Now, again open notepad again and write ren folder.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} folder and now (Notepad Menu) File>save as.
5. In the ‘save as’ name it as key.bat and click save ! (Save it on Desktop)
6. Now, double click lock.bat to lock the folder and now if you open your folder, control panel will open up !
7. Now, double click key.bat to open the folder and now if you open your folder, you can access your data inside the folder again !
8. Lock your folder and hide the key.bat somewhere else on your hard disk !
9. Whenever you want to open your folder just paste the key.bat on desktop and open your folder using it !

Iphone 5s Features/Specifications And Releasing Date.

Okay, so let’s do a complete round-up of all the rumored iPhone 5 specifications that we’ve been seeing so far. This is a comprehensive list, and in all probability, many of these features might actually end up being on the iPhone 5 features list!

1. iPhone 5 Form Factor Could Be Bigger Than iPhone 4S?

But then, as we had posted earlies, the iPhone 5 could only have the display screen larger – not the whole body. That would make UI bigger, but the palm-friendliness remain unaltered.

2. iPhone 5 Could Come With a Greater Resolution
Another rumor that’s been doing the rounds recently is the resolution on the iPhone 5. Of all the iPhone 5 specs we heard, this was very impressive enough because so far, we thought the Retina Display was the state-of-the-art resolution one could ask for! Perhaps, with an increase in the UI size, the resolution could get stronger and users could expect a more brilliant video-watching experience. For the moment though, there’s not much cooking on this issue.

3. iPhone 5 Could Have A Quad-Core Processor
This would mark the beginning of a new CPU-arms race in the market. A dual-core processor for a smartphone has become a common thing these days. One of the chief competitions between Samsung smartphones running Android and Apple smartphones running iOS is the processor each boasts of. The A5 has outdone most Android-supporting processors that other companies have come up with, but according to certain rumors, Apple could be one-upping the race with an all-new, better-than-A6, quad-core processor!

Users have often complained that iPhone 4S is sometimes lagging in speed, and as a fix to this issue, Apple could be trying for the quad-core processor on its next-gen iPhone.

4. iPhone 5 Could Have 4G / LTE Capability?
We wrote on this sometime back. Will the iPhone 5 have 4G capability? Most likely, because Samsung got its Infuse 4G launched already!

In the network race, it would only be logical if Apple got an iPhone 5 specs sheet that had 4G support. As to LTE, that’s doubtful. But bringing out an LTE iPhone 5 would be a great boon for buyers.

5. More Gesture-based – No Home Button
Oops! No home button? Well, yeah, quite possibily. Apple has moved to improved gesture based controls through its iOS 5. So it is quite possible that the home screen might be dropped for enhanced gesture-controls – one large interface change in iPhone 5 specifications.

6. iPhone 5 Features – Storage Capacity, Battery Problems and OS
This one is an actual bummer. With iPhone 4S, we heard the 64GB getting the face-lift. It was being marketed well on par with the 32GB and 16GB. So having an iPhone also means having a smartphone with huge memory capacity. The iPhone 5 specifications might very well include 64GB versions too – considering the sales reports of the iPhone 4S 64GB version – but going beyond that would probably not be a reality for now.

The iPhone 4S still has battery issues and even with the updates on the iOS, there’s no reprieve out of that. It would be natural for the engineers to work on the battery issue fix – and it would only be logical for them to get an iPhone 5 which is not ridden with battery issues.

7. Fire-proof iPhone
Stunned with this iPhone 5 feature?? Well, why not to be… New iPhone 5 is likely to be the fire-proof and the company has organized a patent app for highly developed material which is halogen-free flame retardant. It could be incorporated in the iPhone 5 specifications to build this new iPhone 5 and other Apple products.

8. Wireless Charging
Well… this iPhone 5 specification would give you another break! But you never know the wireless charging is really creating a mass appeal. It could be possible with the inductive wireless charging technology. If you could juice up the battery of iPhone 5 then this will be a big hit. So until iPhone 5 release date comes and the Apple release new smart phone with super cool iPhone 5 features, imagine charging this smartphone without cable.

9. More Speed
4G technology, the latest standard in network technology will help to build up the network fourth generation that will give you more speed…more fun on the fly with outstanding iPhone 5 specs!

10. NFC Payment
According to the reports, this NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is under testing and if it comes, then user will be able to make countless payment through scanner. However, according to the ibtimes, the analysts at Jefferies are expecting that this NFC technology will be revealed in the iPhone 5S (probably next version of iPhone 5). Such iPhone 5 features will definitely create waves in the market.

11. iPhone 5 and Nano-SIM?
Way back, sometime before the rumors began spreading like wildfire, there was this strange but thoughtful remark about iPhone 5 supporting Nano-SIMs to make the design compact – or keep it unaltered (from iPhone 4S) despite a size-increase in the display.

A Nano-SIM would actually be a thing of the past even in 2012, considering the developments and supporting devices that we’ve got so far. Still, there’s no saying what Apple is up to!

The iPhone 5 Release Date Speculations
iPhone 5 is in development, quite obviously, considering the references in iOS 5.1 Beta code. There are no leaks or confirmed sources from manufacturers as yet – which could help us fix a possible date of release. But, we can make a safe guess with a late-2012 release (much like iPhone 4S which got a late 2011 release). Of course, this would depend on Apple’s iPad 3 plans too. Is Apple eying for a simultaneous release of iPad 3 and iPhone 5?

Not long ago, the ability to whip out your trusty PocketPC and set up remote computer access to your desktop PC would all have sounded like science fiction. Today, it’s not only a reality, but it’s completely free.
Dave previously wrote about how to remotely control your mobile device with your desktop. There are a lot of reasons why that would be useful. However, the reverse is just as useful. Having the ability to set up remote computer access to your home PC from anywhere in the world has unlimited possibilities. But how exactly does it work?
First, it makes use of free VNC technology, mentioned previously in How to Spy On Your Spouse With Your Computer. You set up the VNC server on your home PC exactly as outlined in that article, but in order to connect to that VNC server, you need a VNC client that works on your Windows Mobile device. The best available client that I’ve found is the open source Windows Mobile .NET VNC Viewer created by Rocky Lo.

You can even set up your mobile device to simply listen on a particular port for available VNC servers. But in my opinion, the most useful settings in this app are the display options.

You can enable full screen mode, set the orientation for portrait, upside down, or even rotate the computer screen clockwise or counter clockwise so that it shows up on your portable PocketPC screen in the wide format.
You can also change the pixel size from 8-bit to 16-bit, or you can allow the server to define your resolution. These are settings you can tweak if you find that the display updates slowly.

Of course, scaling is a cool method you can use to try to get as much of the computer screen to fit inside your little mobile screen. You can define the width and height, or just scale down the server-side size by as much as a fifth.

Finally, you can configure your mobile VNC client to either update the screen as fast as possible, or disable that feature and update manually. You can also configure it to view the PC screen only, but not manulate it (turning your mobile phone into another cool spy device).

Here, you can see what it looks like when I connect my 8125 SmartPhone to the VNC server running on my family desktop PC. I ran the client software while my phone was connected directly to my home Wi-Fi network. Sending commands to the PC acted instantaneously on the PC itself, but the screen refresh rate on the mobile end took at least 10 to 20 seconds. My settings could use a bit of tweaking.

Using the menu items at the bottom of your mobile screen, you can manually force a screen refresh – a helpful feature when you’re on a slow connection. Other options include sending special keys like control-alt-delete and other tasks typical of a normal VNC viewer.

How to Connect to Your PC While Not at Home

Now, while connecting to your PC remotely is cool when you’re sitting in a different room of your home – it’s astronomically more cool when you’re sitting on a train headed to work and you just remembered you forgot a file on your hard drive at home. How can you configure things so that you can connect your mobile phone through your router? It’s extremely simple.

First, get into your router settings and modify port forwarding. Within Linksys, this is typically under applications & gaming. For VNC, you want to define all requests for port 5900 (for example) to forward to the IP address for the PC that you’ve got running the VNC service in your house.

Then, using your connection with your mobile phone, you will connect to your router’s actual Internet IP address and specify the same port that you’ve just defined forwarding for.

5 Best iPhone Apps For Controlling Your Mac or PC

The long-promised convergence of television and the Internet is finally coming. More and more consumer electronics devices come with features like WiFi and built-in support for Internet services. Tools like Boxee (even with the Apple TV) and Windows 7 Media Center make it easier than ever to connect your computer to your TV to enjoy online content.
Last summer, my personal project was creating the ultimate Mac mini HTPC, and in the end, it turned out great. However, one of the most frustrating (and potentially costly) factors of the whole project was finding a viable keyboard, mouse and remote setup. Controlling a computer from the couch is different than controlling it from a desk, and even though I found a lot of great software-based remote options (and a few hardware options too), it turned out that the best (and by far, most cost-effective) method for controlling my entire setup was right in my pocket.
There are literally dozens and dozens of iPhone and iPod touch apps that can control your PC (be it Mac, Windows or Linux), but after using and testing the big players in this field (and even the small ones), I’ve found five of my favorites. Check them out and be sure to leave your own suggestions in the comments.
*A Note: With one exception, all of these apps are multi-purpose, meaning they are designed to control more than one program. For that reason, some of the XBMC or Boxee-specific apps were left off my list.

1. HippoRemote Pro 2.0

Even before HippoRemote Pro 2.0 was released, this app had a permanent spot on my iPhone’s home screen. The Pro version of the app is $4.99 and a less-feature rich basic version is available for $0.99 and a new Lite edition is available for free.
What makes this app so great is that it works with Mac, Windows and Linux, and acts not only as a viable trackpad/keyboard combo, but offers all kinds of app profiles (plus you can create your own) to control applications like Boxee, Windows Media Center 7, Hulu Desktop, your web browser, iTunes, and more. Plus, you can create macros, easily switch apps, wake up your device over LAN, and use international keyboards.
The new version of HippoRemote Pro also features an awesome Boxee plugin that adds the same kind of gesture control as the official Boxee iPhone app, as well as a built-in web browser (for checking the web, IMDB or Facebook) and Twitter client that lets you check your timeline, mentions and send tweets all from the remote application.

2. Keymote

Keymote from Iced Cocoa is a Mac-only remote control that works by creating little application-specific keysets to control specific actions. Think of it like those macro-based IR remote controls (like the ones Sony used to sell before the Logitech Harmony series took over the market).
What sets Keymote apart is its built-in Keymote “store” where you can download keysets from other users to use with your favorite apps. The interface is really nice and for users who really like to have key commands and shortcuts at their fingertips, Keymote is great.

3. Remote Jr.

Remote Jr. comes in two flavors, the full version for $7.99 or the lite version for $1.99. Remote Jr. Lite doesn’t support Wake-on-LAN and doesn’t have a keyboard or trackpad/airmouse, but will give you a taste of the app itself.
More than other remote control apps, Remote Jr. really is more of a fully-functional VNC (Virtual Network Computing) app. By this I mean you can view your computer’s desktop, access specific elements or apps, and interact with them even when you aren’t in front of your computer.
Most of the remote control apps just use WiFi to connect to your components or PC, which is great — but Remote Jr. can connect over GPRS/Edge or 3G, meaning you can access and control your Mac or PC even if you aren’t at home. That’s pretty powerful. There are other VNC apps out there (namely iTeleport: Jaadu VNC) that have more features, but they also cost a lot more ($24.99) and don’t have the remote control and application switching interface built into them like Remote Jr.
A new version of Remote Jr. was just submitted to the App Store, and amongst other additions and improvements, it will bring audio streaming and Apple TV support. Apple TV support is a really great addition that I look forward to putting to use!

4. EyeTV

Elgato’s EyeTV system is an absolutely fantastic way to turn your Mac into a DVR to record, edit and playback HDTV programming from over the air or cable.

The EyeTV iPhone app is a $4.99 companion that not only lets you control your EyeTV system, but lets you set up recording, view your schedule and programming guide, and play back recording from your computer on your iPhone. You can even stream live TV over a 3G connection, a la the SlingPlayer if you use the free EyeTV Live 3G web app (the EyeTV app will let you watch live TV and record over WiFi without a problem).
When you consider the price of a SlingPlayer and the corresponding mobile app, it makes the EyeTV that much more of a bargain.

5. Snatch

Snatch is a $3.99 remote control app that is extremely similar to both HippoRemote and Keymote. You can control your Mac or PC (and Snatch supports all the way back to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger).
It has a multi-touch trackpad, a keyboard and a remote control editor. You can edit and design the layout of your remote control, adding buttons to specific functions. You can also create a “dock” of sorts for the applications that you like to frequently access.
One feature I like about Snatch is that you can see what apps are running and easily switch between them.
Snatch has a ton of fans, and while I still defer to HippoRemote or Remote Jr., it is a worthy player in the remote control space. Before buying Snatch, you can download the free Snatch Trackpad Test app to make sure it will work with your configuration.

How to Install Window 8 Step by Step Guide.

Step by Step Guide to Install Windows 8 Developer Preview

Step 1. Make sure Oracle VM VirtualBox is installed in your computer. You could refer to the link above if you haven’t installed.

Step 2. Please follow the Virtual Machine setting as below for the Windows 8 Developer Preview installation:

Storage Setting Configuration. By default, the VDI file generated will be mounted as a SATA HDD. But, if it is treated as a SATA HDD, Windows 8 will fail to initiate the installation and BSOD will occurs. So the trick is to mount the VDI file under the IDE controller, with this way Windows 8 Developer Preview will install perfectly. And you need to mount the ISO file containing Windows 8 Developer Preview in the Storage.

Step 3. Once you setup the Virtual Machine you can then start installing Windows 8 which is pretty much similar to the one in Windows 7.

Step 4. Configure the Regional Settings. In this pre-release you only provided with 3 option~ the Time and currency format and theKeyboard or input method settings. Press Next when done.

Step 7. Select the Custom (advanced) option to proceed.

Step 12. You can use your Windows Live account to log in the Windows 8. So no usernames and password need to be created if you already have your Hotmail account with Microsoft. Simply enter your Windows Live account information and in the next screen enter the password. Press Next.
